Who are The Marvellous Group?
The Marvellous Group started in 2002, when our founder Joan bought a hardware shop in Shropshire. With her daughter Katie (aged nine) taking the initiative to negotiate a commission-based weekend wage, the two have essentially been working together for 17 years.
Sharing the same vision and a drive that was clearly in the genes, the small shop in Shropshire grew and grew, evolving into ‘Cooking Marvellous’ - a cookware boutique in Shrewsbury. In 2005, Cooking Marvellous began its digital journey, becoming one of the first online cookware stores and beating its competition to offer Amazon distribution.
Starting out selling our much-loved cookware brands, Cooking Marvellous then expanded into the F&B markets, followed rapidly by lifestyle and health and beauty sectors. To reflect the diverse and ever-expanding range of products Cooking Marvellous became The Marvellous Group in 2018 and currently have over 150 million product listings selling to 130 countries.
As our product range grew, so did our team and we have 20 talented, “Marvellous” people working in IT, customer service, finance and warehouse management who’ve helped us become one of the UK’s leading Amazon specialists.
Our Values
The customer comes first
The reason our business exists and works is happy customers. That’s why it’s our number one priority to deliver a level of customer care that you wouldn’t usually associate with tech giants like Amazon and eBay. You can find out more about the people who handle your calls and emails here:
Respect the metrics
Amazon and co are fantastic platforms for enabling huge growth for businesses. However, when it comes to working with third-party channels, it’s black and white, you need to know the rules. You can’t run your Amazon channel the same way you might run your website. Our team keep up to date with the latest regulations and platform ins and outs so you don’t have to.
We operate in a no blame and supportive culture
Whether working at the head office, down in the warehouse or manning the busy phones in our customer service department, The Marvellous Group is a close-knit team that provides daily support to every member of staff. Each of us has a work wife (or two) who’s on hand at all times to make sure we’re doing okay and to keep stress levels at an absolute minimum.
Everyone gets involved
When it gets busy (we’re looking at you, Christmas season), it’s all hands on deck. That means we get in extra resources, we implement our expertly perfected workflow and even our founders are on the warehouse floor packing your orders. Katie for instance is known for her 70 parcels an hour quota and pretty impressive (daily) 35,000 festive step count record.
